Wednesday 4th October 2023, the Government of Lesotho celebrated 57 years of independence and at the same event, King Letsie III launched bicentenary( 200 years since Basotho nation was founded), at Thaba- Bosiu Cultural Village in Maseru. The Kingdom of Lesotho attained its full independence on 4th October 1966 with King Moshoeshoe II as sovereign.

The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police in collaboration with the TIP Multi-Sectoral Committee, on Sunday the 30th of July 2023 commemorated World Day against Trafficking in Persons at Maputsoe, Leribe District. The event started with a fun walk from Maputsoe Bridge as it is one of the commercial borders in the country and a hotspot for trafficking in persons activities.

Today the 10th of August 2023, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship Home Affairs and Police Commemorates Africa Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Day (CRVS) under the theme: Digitalization of Civil Registration Systems: the potential to increase coverage and improve quality and timeliness of data, at Assumption Primary school in Berea district. This day is celebrated annually under the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16.9, digitization journey that leaves no one behind by 2030, as everyone should be documented. 2023 marks the 6th year African countries commemorate CRVS’ day.
