Sunday, the 17th July 2022 marked the 59th birthday of His Majesty King Letsie III. The celebration was held at the Royal Palace Grounds. The Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL) led the event with prayer, mainly for His Majesty’s and the family’s good health and prosperity among others.

The prayer also included the peace and harmony of the upcoming National General Elections. Some of the factors influencing peace and stability of the country were specifically and individually prayed for, each lead by different members of the LCC.  Reverend Molapo reprimanded the Members of Parliament (MPs) and urged them to do right with God first and turn against their evil ways as he was praying for love and respect among them. He indicated that the MPs always make it a point to insult one another as they campaign and that mislead the nation.

Furthermore, Rev. Molapo reiterated that the nation is confused by the actions of the MPs as they humiliate and insult one another at every chance they get. He took an opportunity on the King’s birthday to remind them that they should strive for better Lesotho and never forget that the King is the only Head of State as appointed by God. The MPs must therefore lead by example and remember that Lesotho is a Kingdom, not a Republic.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14). This was quoted by Arch Bishop Tlali Lerotholi in closing of the ceremony as he lamented for peace. He made a prayer to God to heal the land, the nation, and the leaders.
